So the that
I article that I crossed on the internet was an article from time magazine that
talked about the US postal service losing billions of dollars due to the lack
of first class mail. This is a huge deal I feel because of technology advancing
so much that you can receive, and deliver mail through email access. We
discussed in class how technology has its advantages by the time/distance
obsolete, global connection, and 24 hours 7 days a week availability. With
technology rapidly advancing that we can send mail through the internet rather
than through the postal service it makes much more sense. You’re able to send
an email to a family, friend or business partner through an email than having
to send a message through the mail. It makes it much easier to receive or
deliver taking less time to get to the individual than sending it through the
mail due to the amount of business days it would take for the post office to
deliver it. Why would people spend money
to buy stamps or deliver out a letter when you can save money by just sending
an email. Due to this easier accessibility of communication with other
individuals. The postal service has seen
this large cut in revenue in the first class mail due to this problem of
technology advancing. I feel that it will be difficult to gain more revenue off
the postal service due to the advanced technology, and will continue to face
problems such as having to pay employees, new delivery trucks, package
sortation equipment, and other deferred investments. It will be difficult with
all the endeavors of running of postal service to keep maintained for the
future generations. With such a huge
hole in debt that they face already, I think the best thing to do is to keep it
to a minimum of postal service by providing a better delivery schedule, greater
control over the personal and benefit costs, and to be a lot more flexible on
the pricing of postal service and products would be provided with the necessary
cash flow. I think by possibly doing
these actions will help decrease the amount of debt that our postal service
faces already. I think that if we are not able to do the following actions our
futures will face having little to do with the postal service on receiving or
delivering mail. It would be used for most sending or receiving packages in the
mail rather than letters. All you mail not is accessed through computers for
most people so I can see the trend eventually occurring with the use of
technology more frequently now than it was ever. With this huge debt that we
face it would be much easier for us to just use postal services for delivering
and sending you mail to one another. It will face so difficulties at first
globally in some cases but I think with some time can be the best way to access
everyone you need to get in touch with.
